About Me
Along with Ross - my husband of 32 years - I live with my gorgeous four adult children on Sydney’s beautiful Northern Beaches. I have a Diploma of Teaching (Primary) and over the years have been a keen student of theology and history, amongst other things. Combining my passions for travelling, photography and writing, I began authoring a travel blog, recounting funny family adventures and family holidays back in 2010, when we had our first big family holiday overseas, heading to the USA with my brother Ben and his family. Initially my aim was to bed down my own memories but later, after some encouragement, decided to let friends and family back home (and anyone who was vaguely interested) share in some of our fun and shenanigans. Fourteen years later I’m still going!
I absolutely love looking back at our travels and remembering all the funny little things that happened along the way. I have to say, any travel I have been able to undertake with my family and friends has been an absolute privilege and certainly never taken for granted!
I also love - in no particular order and sometimes simultaneously - live music, dancing, reality tv, cooking, eating out, socialising, reading, singing and the beach.
When my Mum, Jeannie Somerville, was diagnosed with dementia in 2014. It was this diagnosis, coupled with the lack of resources and reading material available for those undergoing similar experiences with loved ones, that prompted me to put pen to paper and write about my own journey with my mother’s dementia, in the hope that it would help others.
My first book, ‘Dementia Who Are You and What Have You Done With My Mother?’ chronicles a daughter’s journey alongside a loved one suffering this cruel disease. It is due out in 2024.
